A s soon as my husband uttered the “D” word, I stomped off to the bedroom with our infant in my arms.

To me “daycare” was just as bad as any 4-letter word. I wanted so desperately to be the one to care for my baby every day.

After I settled my precious boy into the cosleeper next to me, I lay there in the dark with eyes wide open. Thoughts swirled around my mind, but I couldn’t focus on any of them.

My husband was right. We couldn’t afford for me to stay at home with our new baby.

And the reality was, we couldn’t afford daycare either.

I had to find a way to work from home.

It’s been many years since that dark night, and in that time I’ve done many different jobs as a stay at home mom.

In fact, I’ve been successfully working from home now since 2011, and earning a full-time income since 2014.

Real Opportunities for Moms to Work from Home

But what you’ll find in this article isn’t just my personal experience.

Since 2014, I’ve been interviewing and surveying the community of stay at home moms here at Affording Motherhood about the ways they make money from home.

These are real moms who are making it work to care for their children while providing income for their families.

Since I began tracking the ways that moms work from home in 2014, the legitimate options for earning a meaningful income have grown by leaps and bounds.

In fact, the U.S. Federal Reserve now tracks this type of side income specifically, and around 30% of the adult population is engaged in the “gig economy” to supplement their income.

Working from home is becoming more of a real possibility than ever, and that means great things for moms.

The Stay at Home Mom Job Survey

Through the Stay at Home Mom Job Survey, I sought to answer the questions that moms are desperate to know about how to work from home:

  • What job can I do as a SAHM?
  • What skills or experience do I need?
  • How can I get started? (And how much does it cost?)
  • How much money can I make?

You’ll find answers to all of these in the list of job ideas that follow.

It’s worth it to study the online teaching techniques before jumping into your interview and classes as your base pay rate is determined early in the hiring process. The moms I’ve talked to who work with VIPKID love their work so much that I decided to help them recruit new teachers. You can click my referral link below to apply. (I earn a commission for each teacher that starts working with them.) Cost to get started: To get started you need a good headset and some props to use in your teaching (about $50 if you don’t already own these). Next-Step Resource: How to Apply to Teach English Online“I am a homeschooling mom of four children. I would almost do this job for free because it is so incredibly satisfying.”

  3. I love this post! I meant to comment on your Facebook post about this and in true new mom fashion, I forgot to come back and do it. So here’s my little story…it has provided WAY more than I initially thought and has continued to provide. I’m a SAHM to a toddler and newborn. I used to teach and my husband teaches as well. After cutting expenses in our own budget, the next best way for us to save more money was to make money. I decided to open an Etsy shop (Joyful Art Designs) and sell printable signs. I spent 6 months preparing to open and a lot of hours the first several months to make it successful. The hard work has paid off and I’ve now replaced my teaching income if I had our two kids in day care. Right now I put in about 1-3 hours a day if I can since we have a newborn. I love blogging, but it’s a hobby, whereas this is a business. Thanks for letting us share our businesses…this is great for those searching to make money.

    • How do you start an Etsy shop? I have been curious about it for a while, just not sure where to start. • Hello,
I began my Etsy shop about 18 months ago. I was also a bit nervous with being a legit site and all, my husband encouraged me to start one up and so far it has been great.
I LOVVVVVEEEE doing crafts, I been married for almost 3 years and have a 5 month baby boy. We both wanted me to be a stay home mom as long as we could afford it. Even if takes eating rice and water I will not go back to work unless we can’t survive on one income. (but you never know what can happen)
I began my shop with a few pinatas, when I finally sold one I actually asked another seller (who gladly helped me) because I was so nervous and clueless on what to do. Etsy is pretty simple and most questions can be googled.
Sadly we had a few family emergencies that did not allow me to fully focus on advertising and taking care of my shop. And after having a C-section it was difficult as well. My advise to you is go for it, if you have any artistc/crafty talent than etsy is right for you. Choose your Etsy store name wisely because you can only change it once or twice, and let it represent your shop. Also be very patient, not every month is busy I have had months where nothing sells and one time I sold about $590. Also make sure you have the space to work because it does get messy. And at first you will invest on materials. And lastly be very informed about shipping prices. I began using FeDex, their customer serivice is great but pricy there were time I would ship pinatas and it would cost way more than what they paid me, so I would make like $10 or less. So I came to the conclusion that USPS was the best, its way cheaper so its easier to estimate prices and if you go over budget you only put a few dollars rather than the whole sale, but their customer service isn’t that great.
        I hope this helps
        Good Luck

    • I was a virtual assistant for awhile. I was in Real Estate but decided it wasn’t for me because I was out and never home. I decided to start a Real Estate Virtual Assistant business and let all my Real Estate friends know about it. I was hired by a property manager and did all the work at home and got some work from other agents but then they started getting greedy and tried to lower my prices or get free work from me. I was making $15 an hour from the property manager (I was only inputting receipts and I’d update the MLS listings or put in new listings for her and answer calls for her) but then she decided she wanted to pay me $30 per month to do what I was doing plus show the rentals to prospective tenants (showings could last up to an hour per person..sometimes she got non stop calls about some houses)and deposit all the rental money (that takes hours because there were several different banks she’d have to go to)….I said No way and decided that business wasn’t for me. It’s not really hard to get into but be tough and stick to your prices and don’t get your business from friends (like I did) because then they expect you to give them a break.

Hosting exchange students- It’s not really considered income, but rather reimbursement for expenses, but caring for a teenager from another country has been a really rewarding experience for our whole family, and my 3-yr-old son proudly talks about his 2 Japanese “sisters”. I think this opportunity must only be taken on with genuine interest and care for the students, but the rate we are reimbursed definitely provides extra income for our family which allows me to stay at home and be a “Mom” to one more.

    • Just wanted to comment on your Exchange Student post. I taught in Japan at a Japanese High School and had six classes with forty students per class. I know the two young ladies you hosted were thrilled and blessed beyond measure to have had the opportunity to live with your family. All the students long for American friends and all things American! They are the most wonderful people! I know you were blessed in return!

  11. Wow; only $700 – that really puts things into perspective! It feels much more approachable/attainable when you look at it that way! I actually have my fingers in a number of pies, as well – besides Amazon publishing and direct sales, I also bring in a little here and there through blogging (‘though that’s far from dependable), and I sell some of my photos through stock sites. (That REALLY doesn’t bring in a lot, but if the pictures are just sitting on my hard drive anyway, I might as well put them somewhere they can bring in a few cents.)

I thought about having an in home before/after school care, but our state apparently has new laws about lead pipes/ paint, etc and all homes that were built before 1978 would have to be inspected. Our home was built in 1940 and I could not afford that inspection. So, that idea went down the commode. I was blessed with a daycare position for the summer that allowed me to bring my children for free and that was huge! Now I am substitute teaching and would love to be home full time again. ( my dh was incarcerated for a year and is ready to come home and make a new start-please pray that the Probation officer allows him to take a job that he has been offered already).

I love that this opportunity has provided me with a weekly paycheck (my best month so far has been $900.00+ with just a few hours worth of work per week) while I stay at home with my kids who I am currently homeschooling.

We are also a one-car family and cut unnecessary spending when we can – in hopes of paying off our insane credit card debt soon! :-)

I started doing Jamberry just so I could get the personal discount and so I’d have something to keep my brain busy with an infant at home and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much money I’m really making. My mom says she thinks I’ve made more money in my first three months than most people ever do with direct sales things. :)

The training does cost, but it is a wonderful program. I went through Bradley classes with my husband when we were pregnant with our first and it was just the best experience for both of us. You can find more about training here.

  20. I am a stay at home Mom with a part-time work from home job. For the past 3 years, I have had the blessing of being the secretary and office manager for a small Hydrovacing company. I have been able to do all the work from home until this past summer. It’s had it challenging times, but I’ve learned so much and have knowledge on how to start your own business because of it. Now, our youngest, age 3, goes with me 3 days a week for a few hours. We have 4 children- 16, 14, 7 and 3. I have also sold things on local sales sites for extra income. I have been at home since our oldest was born. We’ve made sacrifices, but didn’t see them as sacrifices. It was choices to support our decision to have me at home. We made that decision before we married almost 23 years ago. And, we are both thankful and blessed by it.

I have three under three and stay at home, but I wanted the ability to still have measurable goals, connect with adults, and earn some extra income for our family- I became a Rodan + Fields skin care consultant a few months ago. I love it because I can work when kids are napping, it’s mostly connecting online with others and all business is done through a website. I love the products and have seen crazy good changes with my skin, but don’t have to carry inventory around with me to sell to people!

My only problem is that I really have no skills other then being a mom. What would you suggest for me?

    Reply
    • I always recommend sticking close to the skills you already have, so maybe taking on one or two kids and running a small in-home daycare would be an option for you? This could bring in $100s of dollars every month for your family, and you really wouldn’t have to do anything much different than what you’re already doing as a stay at home mom.

I am a mom of four boys and have worked for Pampered Chef for six years. I love cooking, helping others develop a love for cooking and eating healthy! With the current trends in food and in women/men wanting to cook at home more than eating out, my business continues to take off. The benefits have been incredible. I easily earn hundreds of dollars a month and reap bonuses for staying active (from tote bags to jewelry to free products that I am able to give as gifts.) I always advise women I speak with who are looking for opportunities such as this to find what you are passionate about, make sure your husband is on board with it, pray and then go for it!

I am glad there is a list like this. I stayed home and just spend time with my babies most of the last year and a half but recently in May started with Origami Owl as a way to have fun and spend time with other female adults. Later I joined Plexus just to get the discount myself and I have been doing amazing both in my wellness journey & making quite a bit of money off of it also. I am hoping to make it into a full time income before my kids go to kindergarten so when they go to school I don’t have to go back to work. I just don’t want to send them to daycare during the summers so unless I find a job as a school nurse I plan to stay home. Life is too short & they stay little for too short of a time to send them to daycare for someone else to raise them for me.

I have a soon to be 2 year old and my husband and I realized it actually cost us more for me to work outside the home, and I was fortunate enough to be able to work out a situation with my employer to allow me to do my job from home. I have a sitter that helps from time to time to allow me time to meet deadlines, meetings, jobfairs. I schedule wrap appointments and parties when my husband is home. This also also allows me to have a positive work life balance for myself and gives our child a chance to have a mom at home but to still be able to have someone to give her undivided attention when I have work priorities. So far it is a win win for us.

It’s even tighter with hundreds of dollars going towards debt each month. We decided to use our construction experience to renovate and sell our home for a profit. We plan to use the money to pay off most, if not all, our debt. The next house should make enough money for us to pay ourselves a monthly salary while we work on the house after that and so on. This will be our “job,” so we get to work at home and create our own schedule as a family.

  44. When I was pregnant 16 years ago with our first daughter I had a conversation with my Grandma a few weeks before she went to be with the Lord. I told her there is NO way I could stay home…it’s just not possible on one income. Well, it was possible and the Lord provided a way for me to transition from working at the physical therapy office I was employed with and had done some transcription for by putting me in contact with a local transcription company ran by a husband and wife. I typed for about the first 4 years of her life and then we found that we could indeed live on one income if we prioritized and ran our household differently. And avoided unnecessary items that today’s society in general think are priorities. It has been a wonderful 16 years with my two daughters. I began homeschooling them, too, eight years ago! It’s wonderful and now I don’t have to work at all. When they were small I would buy high end clothing for them and re-sell it to make it a near wash when the clothes were outgrown. Now we enjoy thrift storing almost exclusively and those clothes we don’t ant any longer or don’t fit we sell at consignment shops to make back some money. I regularly go through my house, too, and get rid of things that aren’t being used and sell them on facebook or my areas local selling page. It helps to make back a little!

It was pretty easy and gave me a little mad money to take my daughter and husband out for a little treat. It is a minimum wage job, but it is a nice way to add to our finances! I have babysat for additional kids during the day before as well. Now that I have four kids of my own and am homeschooling, I find it to be fairly impractical.

When you find a legit stay at home position, it may become even harder to find that balance because of the comfort of being home some of us may not be able to take work as serious not being in a work environment. My advice as a stay at home mom is to remember what and who you are doing this for. what is your motivation? my motivation is my daughter. she keeps me going and i will never give up knowing that she is counting on me. 65. Hi Everyone,

I’m a stay at home dad and I have a baking blog that is making some pretty good money. I dont want to post the amount, as my intention is not to spam this conversation, but it is in the 5 figures per month.

Anyway, I know that there is a need for stay-at-home parents to make extra income, so I’d like to offer some advice.

Making money blogging is difficult, it requires growing an audience, blogging regularly, and a lot of other marketing tactics.

As someone who has started many, many blogs that failed, I can tell you that starting a food related blog is the easiest and quickest way to make money with a blog. I use “easiest and quickest” with caution, because nothing is easy and making money online does take a little time.

But, there are over 10 million recipe searches online every day, so you need a very small share of that to make a very good income.

Again, my intention is not to spam this conversation, but please feel free to as any questions, I am happy to help.

  70. I love all the ideas here. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 9 years Until recently I haven’t had a need to work from home. I would really love to do something that is flexible and strictly online due to having a critically ill child at home. My passion is research for financial assistance for families in need. I would love to be able to find a way to turn this into a profitable stay at home business but I am completely lost in how to get started and if there is even a need for it. Until then I would be interested in data entry or research virtual assistant. If anyone has an idea where to start or if there is something I can do until I can start I would be interested in talking with you. Thank you

It’s a cloud based company, which allows more money to be redistributed back into the pockets of the hard working promoters. You won’t regret it!!! This company is a life changer!!!

  72. I am a single mom of 3 beautiful girls. My oldest has decided to move out on her own, but my other two are still at home. I work part time, go to school part time, and supplement my income by selling candles for a company called Jewelry in Candles. I have only been doing this for a few months and not many people have heard of this company where I live so it has been slow going, but it is going. I used to work 12 plus hours a day, 6 days a week and did it for years. I decided it was time to slow down a little bit so I can be around for those sporting activities.

  73. I work at home as an Operator Services contractor. Many people are scared of some of these jobs because they appear to be “too good to be true” and because you do have to pay for your background check up front. Some of them might be, however I have worked for http://www.LiveOps.com for 3 years now, and it has been great. My neighbor worked for them for 9 years. I choose my own hours, with shifts as short as 30 minutes. I have worked my way up to a specialty line, which I enjoy more that the “starter” line all agents start on. There are pros and cons, as with any job, but the pay is good (I average $15/hour) and I love the incredible flexibility. Agents are needed 24 hours per day, so you have lots of options. It is not available in every state though, So check the web site for more info.

  74. I have loved this post. I am a stay at home mom of two and have done a variety of things to being in money. I babysat for a couple of years but that got hard to do while home schooling. Now I am an Independent Consultant for Pink Zebra. I love the company and the products. Let me know if you want info about the company.

I used to be an adoption social worker prior to staying home with my kids. I have recently contracted with a couple of different adoption agencies to provide various adoption service as it is needed. With that, I make decent money each month but it does vary. That is my true passion so I absolutely love it.

I also recently became a notary public and offer mobile notary services for a small fee.

I would be interested in being a virtual assistant. If anyone has info on how to do that legitimately that would be awesome. I don’t know where to start.

My one encouragement to the moms struggling to make ends meet is this…There are ways to bring in money and lots of ways to save. Hang in there and be creative!

  79. I was surprised that Nerium International was not on your list. The company is less than 4 years old and has broken so many records! Our CEO, Jeff Olson, gets invited year after year to speak to and teach other CEOs at their annual conferences. He is nicknamed “The Millionaire Maker”, and has brought many many companies from the bottom to the top. Nerium did $100 Million their first year with one product, in one country. And it doubles every year after that! It is also the youngest company to reach the top 40 list of the Direct Selling Association! This company is climbing fast to the top, and I’m proud to be involved in it.

I’m also working on opening an Etsy shop, but LegalShield is really starting to take off, so Etsy may go on the back burner.

My original goal was to help my kids buy their college textbooks. In the last year or so, I’ve also been able to help them out with laundry money and tuition. I am really blessed to be able to stay home with our youngest and do something online that I love.

  84. Hello all,
I am a full time college student, wife, and mommy to one active 5 yr old who I homeschool. My husband (who is a veteran Marine) is in college as well, so our lives are jam packed with homework. I’ve thought about selling products (It Works, Mary Kay, etc), but I can’t see myself selling and promoting a brand or products that I’m not 100% about. I have artistic abilities that I thought about putting to use to get income, but unfortunately we don’t even have the money to invest in creating stuff to sell.
Money is a HUGE stress in our household. This month we’ve needed to pawn things just to pay rent and other bills. Can any one PLEASE help?
I’m looking for something honest, flexible and that won’t burn out my energy to carry out my duties as a mom, wife, and student. I want to contribute financially and alleviate these financial burdens!

I was wanting to get my Photography off the ground but am worried that it is a useless effort. I guess I just needed an outsiders help/viewpoint… Does anyone have tips to get over this? I don’t exactly know what I am looking for as an answer, so anything would be perfect… I don’t want to work too closely with people because I feel like I just make a mess of that and say the wrong thing often. I think Data entry would be good? I just need help and I don’t know where to look/ask.

    • If they said you are incompetent it may be just a thing to say when you have to get rid of someone. Don’t take it personally, it is not in any way connected to you as a person.
If you love photography, than go for it. From my personal experience, I had most success when I did not set for less than what I really want. For every skill, passion or dream job it takes patience and persistence to succeed. No one ever woke up successful.

As an employer, I can’t even count how many applications I’ve filed to the back because of poor grammar! (some of you might be thinking why is she on this site if she has her own business… I don’t want to be at my business, I want to be able to pick up my girls from school!) I market for an online store by referring shoppers, but I can’t replace my income yet. Maybe when my student loans are paid! I’m making that my goal!

I’ve actually worked at home as a designer for an advertising agency for the past 4 years when they suddenly dropped freelance contracts. I also have a 4 year old son, so I was not ready to go back to “Work Out There” after all that time with him as my little assistant. I am struggling with routine, and this forum seems to have a lot of answers! I do still work at home, thank goodness, as I started with a brand new network marketing company called RemeVerse (anti-aging, science-based skincare). I think network marketing is one of the most overlooked and underappreciated “careers” out there for WAHMs. There’s so much potential! Now just to get to a solid morning routine…. hi everybody!

However, this is a real and promising career. I used to work for “Career Step” and they have an awesome Medical Coding and Billing course.
Their training is done online and is self-paced. You could finish the program in 4 months but 6 months is probably more realistic. They do however give you up to a year to get it all done. Their program is approved by the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. They work specifically with a company called IOD inc. that hires their grads to work from home right out of the program.

The average salary for this career is about $40,000. Their entire program including books, instructors and job assistance is around $3,000 and they offer sweet payment plans.

I have only ever been a receptionist prior to having kids and have been out of the work force for almost 6 years. I desperately want to stay home, especially considering how much it costs for daycare these days, knowing I would have to pay out more than I could possibly make. I’m not good at sales, and I don’t feel too good at anything these days except for being a mom. You know how it goes your constantly on the go with one at school and one walking and climbing everywhere you never have time for yourself and when you get a minute to breathe your being told you have a full time job but it’s not work because you are not bringing in any money… So I guess is there anything out there that anyone can recommend for me to try from home? I’m no good at writing or blogging either, I’m actually not even on a computer much but even if I could make $20 a day something to contribute financially so I don’t feel so worthless right now. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated:).

But I was able to combine my passion for teaching with my reading/writing/editing skills and after a short stint as an indy publisher’s assistant, I shifted over to the edtech industry. For the past 4 years I’ve been working on online and blended learning products for an edtech company called Edgenuity.

When my first son was born, I was able to split my days, working three days in the office and two days at home. When I got pregnant with my second, my family and I relocated across the country–and Edgenuity let me stay on full-time remote. It’s been an awesome opportunity and really helped with the transition for us. It’s tough working full-time–sometimes tougher when you’re totally remote–and having a toddler, but totally worth it. Cutting out all the costs and frustrations of a daily commute [which was 3 hours a day minimum living in NYC] and gaining back that time with my family has been priceless.

I’m 7 months pregnant now and awaiting my second little one. I’m sure I’ll need to make some kind of shift again, once I have two little ones running around. But right now I”m just looking forward to baby #2’s birth and spending my maternity leave at home enjoying (and adjusting to) being a mamma of two under three!!!!

Hope this post helps, especially those of you that are current/former teachers looking for meaningful work. You can also check out being a Virtual Instructor for edtech companies as well. I’m on Twitter @CullenTang Good luck!

  121. I just completed reading hundreds of posts relating to the vast opportunities to work from home. Some sell jewelry, some pedal cosmetics or essential oils. Those are great ideas for the natural-born salesperson. Some are bloggers and write for income. That sounds interesting but requires a great level of writing skill. I read several posts from the creative and crafty who actually create things to sell on a popular shopping site.
My mind remains a blank slate. I’m not a salesperson, a lyrical genius, or crafty. After working as a RN for many years and struggling with my own health issues, I was forced to leave the only career I found true passion in. Two years ago, I rediscovered that passion for learning and became interested in. Sex Ed. Not the Birds and the Bees from middle school, but the deeper, more intimate details. After years of absorbing information, I found giving advice and sharing knowledge to other woman was as rewarding, if not more, than nursing. I’ve even worked with some men and a few couples who now report an active and fulfilling sex life. Finally, I feel I have regained my self worth and again feel the satisfaction of helping others.
I only have one minor hiccup…. I have NO earthly idea how to find or reach out to those I can help.
    Please, anyone, help me!

However, this is a real and promising career. I used to work for “Career Step” and they have an awesome Medical Coding course.

Their training is done online and is self-paced. You could finish the program in 4 months but 6 months is probably more realistic. They do however give you up to a year to get it all done. Their program is approved by the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. They work with companies such as CIOX Health, Lexicode, OS2-HCS, TrustHCS, Inovalon, Mckesson that hire their grads to work from home right out of the program.

The average salary for this career is about $40,000. Their entire program including books, instructors and job assistance is around $3,000 and they offer sweet payment plans.

  126. I work from home doing customer service. I contract with a company named LiveOps and they offer opportunities to certify with a variety of clients. I currently take calls for Pizza Hut and it is pretty easy and enjoyable, once I got the hang of using the computer software. Most days, I average around $12 per hour, and I don’t have to commute anywhere or pay for childcare. I just schedule work hours when my husband is home to watch our 3 kids.

Other opportunities are taking calls for insurance companies, doing roadside assistance, medical calls, or sales calls for As Seen on TV products.

I have designed a template to help parents teach their children about God, to understand different activities that happen within the church i.e. baptism, to help them learn basic Bible verses, and a list of verses which can be utilized for different occurrences in life. I do not know how to market my “tool box” and I am interested on how I can get this item out and available to others. I also am interested in providing a service of giving advice to others. However, I am not sure how to even set up a platform for that. I am a SAHM with seven children ranging from one month to 20 years old; with the last three being age three and under. I am looking for advice and direction. We are currently surviving on my husband’s income, but I want to do more than survive I want to thrive.

    • That is so wonderful TaMarra. Congratulations! As a mom of young kids, I would love to learn about how to disciple my kids from an experienced mom. I would recommend checking out Kindle Direct Publishing or Create Space. Both are through Amazon and allow you to list your book directly on Amazon either in print or for Kindle. That’s a great place to start. Also, starting a blog is a great way to connect with potential readers that might be interested in your book.

  129. This is a great list. I’m thinking about leaving a corporate job to stay at home with my 2 year old until he goes to school. My husband travels extensively and I feel like my son doesn’t have either of his parents right now with the hours I work and stress I’m under. I’m very hesitant however, because I’d be leaving a good salary and I never, ever thought being a stay at home mom would be for me. I have a long background in marketing, advertising, business development and training. Would appreciate any suggestions or words of wisdom to help me make this decision.

    • Hi Emily! yes that must be such a tough decision to make. It sounds like you have a great recipe for success for moving to a work at home situation with your background and experience. I always recommend that women stick with what they already know when making this transition. One option would be to look for companies that offer remote working for their employees, many do and many will if you ask. Alternately, you could start your own consulting business. Maybe there’s a specific need that you see in your line of work that you feel you could fill. I know it is scary to take that leap and leave your secure corporate job. In the end, I guess it comes down to which option is best for your family (and I am not saying there’s a ‘right’ answer here. It’s tough, so no guilt either way!) Kids having time with their parents is important, moms having the margin to love their kids well is important, putting a roof over your heads and food on the table is also crucial! I would also add that maybe you can think through changes you can make on the spending side to help offset the loss of income if you quit your job to work from home. In fact, you may actually save money by staying home simply by commuting less, having more time to cook rather than eat out, less childcare etc. I pray you’ll find just the right thing for you and your family Emily!

  130. Thank you for this article! My husband and I recently decided that I would stay home with our 7 month old son after our baby sitter decided watching kids wasn’t really for her. I put in my notice this week!! (So nervous!)
Honestly, our math doesn’t work with our bills and just my husband’s income so we are racking our brains trying to find something to make up the difference.
We have started an online boutique Pastel Poppy but it has been slow starting so I’m going to try and find some other means until it picks up. It’s just hard to find legitimate remote work that isn’t on the phones :( Thanks for the article!

  135. Hi ! I’ve (finally) found an online business opportunity that I can work part-time around my kids. I have 4 children, with 1 leaving the nest in 6 months time to go overseas (he’s almost 18yo) but our youngest is 5 yo.
This business opportunity is giving me the freedom to choose my own hours, and I only need a laptop and phone so if we go traveling I can do a little bit of work and a lot of play!
The great thing is there is full training & support, it’s not MLM and there is no cold calling or stocking products. It’s in the personal Development industry and developing my personal growth is not just beneficial to me, it’s helping my husband and children have a different and very positive perspective on life – how wonderful to incorporate this into your family teachings!
Plus the community of entrepreneurs who are mums, dads and others, are an inspiring, supportive and positive bunch!
I didn’t know such opportunities existed, and am very grateful I was guided to it.

  137. Wow this is a well-done list! And I see all the time you put into it has paid off considering it has been shared over 50,000 times! Congrats to you! I personally like the virtual assistant idea. I have not done it, but I love the idea of it and I think it can be a great way for decent income if you find the right company. Just takes some time and effort to apply to some places if you want to make significant income. I was doing research on VA jobs and it looked like there are multiple companies available to get with. It kind of looked like the higher paying companies wanted a bit of experience though. Anyway, great article thanks!

  138. I started 4 months ago. I work 3 to 4 hours before my kids get up in the morning. It pays $16.5 to $22 an hour.? No degree required, just some experience teaching kids.

‘PalFish is a leading English education platform in China who makes quality English education simple for both teachers and students. Its PalFish Official Kids Course, for students between 3-15 years old, is expanding with a fast speed and more teachers are needed! And some teachers can even earn over $200 in a day by teaching from home! If you are looking for an online ESL job, give it a try and you won’t regret.
