29 Organic Foods You Can Buy at Costco

This Costco organic food list includes the best foods to buy at Costco. Don’t forget to add them to your Costco shopping list to eat healthily and save money on groceries, too!

E ach year during No Spend Month I do an assessment of our spending and ask myself, is this $55 Costco Membership really worth it? So far, each year I discover that yes it is easily worth the cost for all of the money I save on groceries.

The trick is to shop with a list and make sure I only buy the healthy real foods that are on it. Otherwise, it is very easy to come out with a bunch of junk, both food and other items, that we don’t need.

Surprisingly though, it isn’t all giant boxes of frozen taquitos and 6-pound bags of Frosted Flakes. There are actually quite a few organic foods available at Costco.

Sick of couponing, shopping sales, and meal planning only to find you’re still busting your grocery budget? This is the simple system my family used to cut our grocery budget in half.)

When you’re trying to live a healthy lifestyle, buying organic foods can get expensive. (Thanks to all the GrowingSlower Facebook fans that helped me compile this list!) Here are 29 Organic Foods you can save money on groceries on at Costco.

  1. Every Costco is different, even within a state. But luckily I live where you live and enjoy many of those organic things from Costco. I especially like in the summer when they have organic peaches!

  4. Doesn’t this differ depending on WHICH costco you’re shopping from? I’ve found different states I’ve lived in have offered different amounts of organic food. But.. maybe that’s changed.

  5. This is awesome! I go sometimes with my MIL and usually come out with a ridiculously large bag of raw almonds – this is great to know I can keep an eye out for other stuff, too!

  6. As others noted, availability depends widely on the individual store. There are two Costco stores in Indianapolis. One has much more organic and gluten-free options than the other. Unfortunately, the one closest to me carries less. I just ask and write suggestions for the comment box as often as possible. Organic raisins please!!!

  7. Canned tomato sauce is from Costco is really good!!! To be even more organic you should test out making your own tomato sauce. It really isn’t that difficult at all. My hubby loves it :)

  8. I get: frozen mixed veggies, udon noodles, flour, hotdogs, and frozen broccoli that are all organic. Stores definitely vary in what they carry. Southlake, TX store carries many more organic items then the Rockwall, TX store and they are only 1 hour away from each other.

  10. I wish they would carry organic potatoes and organic fresh tomatoes. Some of the most contaminated foods if you don’t buy them organically.

  12. We have an executive membership which cost $110, but you get a 2% return on all purchases at the end of the year. We just renewed with our return check and the total out of pocket for our renewal was $8.00, last year we actually made a couple bucks, making our membership essentially free or at least super cheap! This may not be a great option if you don’t spend a lot of money at Costco but if you do, it’s worth it!

  14. Costco is a great resource and this list is way to short! Our Costco (Sequim, WA) has fresh organic veggies in season. Organic onions, squash, apples, and more. The cold room is about 50% organic. The back row freezer case is almost all organic fruits and veggies. So many choices that all you really need to do is read the store tags and product labels to see what you are really buying. You do need to pay attention because sometimes it may be USDA Organic but it doesn’t mean you want to eat it. Next time you are in Costco look around you will be surprised by how much organic and Non-GMO is on the shelf. Costoco/Kirkland has been buying organic farmland and helping farmers switch to organic, so I think it’s just going to get better.
For Vegans and Vegetarians every where this is great news though we do support local agriculture every chance we get. We are fortunate to also have two great farm stores near us to fill the gap.

  15. Our Richmond CA Costco has more organic products than I have ever seen at any other Costco. I love it!
There used to be an entire organic area until it got too big and they dispersed everything in it’s similar item area.
Recently, we even got organic maple syrup aged in bourbon casks!
Unfortunately, some items come and go very quickly.

I don’t know if they do this at all the Costco’s but they tend to move stuff around so it can be harder to find something you liked from previous visit. Maybe they want you to search around?

  16. My Costco here in North Dallas has most of these (probably all, but there are some that I don’t look for). In addition, there is organic broccoli, spring mix, chicken tenderloins, frozen mango and they had organic avocados for a few weeks and they are gone again.

I love that they make it easy (most of the time) to locate organics, by making the signs green.
